Apple is by far the most popular fruit pie in America. Other popular fruit pies include cherry, blueberry, peach, strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, pineapple, apricot, and peach. Fruit pies span a wide range of styles because nearly any fruit can be transformed into a tender, juicy filling wrapped in a flaky crust. They vary by fruit type, structure, and the way the filling behaves when baked.
There are more variations of fruit pie recipes than any other type of pie. We recently did a little research and noted over 600 different apple pie recipes. Fruit pies come in every shape and size including lattice top crust, flaky top crust, crumble topping, galettes, and hand pies. To expand the fruit pie recipe collection even further, we have pies that combine two or more different types of fruit such as strawberry rhubarb, mixed berry, peach blueberry, apple cranberry, and cherry berry.
