Guava is a tropical fruit native to Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, known for its sweet yet tart flavor, fragrant aroma, and vibrant pink or white flesh. It grows wild in warm regions around the world and is especially prized for its extremely high vitamin C content. In the U.S. guava is grown primarily in Hawaii and Florida.

Fresh guava is hit or miss. Some are sweet and juicy while others are bitter and hard as a rock. You’re welcome to make your own guava pie filling if you can find the perfect fruit. The unpredictability of the fresh fruit is the main reason why we recommend using canned filling. This recipe is intended to be quick and easy, which almost always means using canned filling.

In the United States, guava pie appears to be a regional treat. Most guavas are grown in Florida and Hawaii. Florida is known for its oranges, which are high in Vitamin C. However, guava has 3 times more Vitamin C than oranges. It also contains vitamins A, E, K, and B‑complex vitamins, and is a good source of fiber, antioxidants, and potassium. If you’re looking for a guava pie recipe then you obviously already know how amazing this fruit is.

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • 2 pie crusts

Instructions

Preheat Oven

  • Preheat the oven to 425℉

Prepare The Crust
