Sweet apple filling with brown sugar streusel topping. This recipe is similar to an apple crumble or Dutch Apple pie except a lot sweeter due to the sweetened, condensed milk.
Place a sheet of aluminum foil on the bottom rack, directly under where you'll be placing the pie.
Melt The Butter
Melt the butter in microwave or on the stove. Let stand at room temperature until cooled.
Prepare The Apple Filling
In a large bowl add the apple filling. Using a knife slice some of the apples into smaller pieces.
Pour 12 ounces of sweetened condensed milk into the apples and mix until well blended.
Pour into the pie crust and smooth into one even layer.
Prepare The Streusel Topping
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and apple pie spice.
Add the cooled melted butter and mix until the streusel is well combined and forms small clumps. Do not over mix.
Sprinkle the streusel evenly over the filling. Do not push the streusel into the filling. Use all of the streusel, mixture even if it seems like it's too much!
Bake
Place the pie on a cookie pan and bake for 50-60 minutes or until firm and the streusel is lightly browned.
Cool
Allow to sit on wire cooling rack for up to 2 hours or until the pie plate is cool to the touch..
SERVING SUGGESTION: You should have 2 ounces of sweetened, condensed milk left over. For an added boost of sweetness, drizzle it over the pie while serving.
